What Is DASK Insurance. Why you need it?
Since most regions of Turkey are located in the zone of seismological activity and due to a major earthquake in the east of Turkey, when buying a property, earthquake insurance abbreviated as DASK insurance, is a prerequisite. Without it you will not be issued a contract for subscription services for water and electricity. This insurance requires an annual renewal.
What documents are needed
- Passport photo (first page)
- Tax number of the owner
- Full address of the house, how much m2, type of building, how old is the house
- Photo of TAPU (certificate of ownership)
How much does DASK insurance cost?
The exact cost of insurance is calculated by the system.
It depends on various parameters:
- From the region where your accommodation is located. For example, in Istanbul, Izmir, in the east of Turkey, the calculation coefficient will be higher than in Mersin, Alanya and Antalya, which are located in a zone of low seismological activity.
- From the technologies and materials from which the house is built. From the age of the building. If old houses, then they are less resistant to earthquakes, unlike new ones where all modern construction standards are observed.
- From the area of housing. The larger the number of square meters the more expensive the insurance will be. For example, in Alanya, insurance for a 1 + 0 studio in 2023 costs about 140 liras, 1 + 1 apartments about 160 liras, 2 + 1 about 190 liras.
What types of damage are not covered by DASK insurance?
- The cost of garbage collection in the event of an insured event.
- Damage to any movable property, loss of money savings, etc.
- Injuries, deaths during an earthquake.
- Losses due to disruption of the rent, relocation, moral injury.
If you want to protect family and yourself as much as possible, we recommend that you take out a voluntary insurance policy in addition to DASK where you can foresee literally any damage. For advice, please write in the contact form in the lower right corner.
